A lot of us know this feeling
Can't switch off
When your mind keeps running after hours.
You're not alone
When the day ends but your mind keeps working, it's usually a nervous system still stuck in 'on'. Common, and trainable. The aim is to signal safety to your body, not to argue your thoughts quiet.
What can help
- Build a wind-down ritual. The same few calming steps each night teach your brain it's safe to power down.
- Park tomorrow on paper. Writing the open loops down lets your mind stop rehearsing them.
- Cut the evening information stream. Less input, quieter mind.
- Use the body to reach the mind: slow breathing, a warm shower, a short walk.
- Keep work out of the bedroom where you can. Let the space mean rest.
